A company led by a Zen-inspired interior designer who just happens to specialize in home cleaning!

How we started our journey

Like many of our customers, our founder, Deanna Hains, came to New York with big dreams—modeling and interior design were at the top of her list. Little did she know, years later, she would be running one of the city’s most exclusive home cleaning companies. That’s often the way New York dreams unfold. Deanna always had a natural talent for interior design with a Zen-inspired touch. However, it wasn’t until she struggled to find someone to clean her first NYC apartment that the opportunity to start her own business truly began to take shape.

New York apartments—especially the smaller ones—often struggle with poor ventilation, and Deanna found herself barely able to breathe in her small space due to the harsh chemicals used by traditional maid services. Although her apartment was clean, it wasn’t the Zen-like atmosphere she longed for. The pillows were tossed on the couch rather than arranged to her liking, and while the house was tidy, it wasn’t organized in a way that felt peaceful to her.

Determined not to experience that again, Deanna made the decision to find a cleaning service that used only natural, organic products and could clean in a way that reflected her personal Zen approach. When her search revealed no one who truly understood green cleaning or how to create a Zen home, she took matters into her own hands and founded Zen Home Cleaning.

A big thank you to Beni and Sam for the post construction cleaning they just completed in our NYC duplex apartment. We've just had major construction completed and the whole place was filled with dirt & dust...as well as packing boxes. Sam and Beni were here on the dot of 8:30am and worked solidly to complete the job. The company needed a little extra time to complete the work but that was mentioned in the original quote and was expected at the final invoice.
